fitness games for kids
Children love to run and play. Fitness games offer a fun way to exercise and come with many benefits, including:
- solve problems
- coordination
- follow instructions
- Fair play
- waiting to take turns
tag games
Catch games are always fun. Our collection includes old favorites and some you may not have heard of. It is best to set boundaries for the game and be sure to explain all the rules, with an emphasis on safety and sportsmanship.
- Bandage label.Select one as "That". When a player is marked, he must hold a bandage (one hand) over the marked point. If a person has been tagged twice, they no longer have a "bandage" on them, so they must be frozen in place. Two other players can unlock a frozen player by "operating" on them, tagging the frozen player while counting to five. This game becomes a challenge by tagging a person in a hard to reach place like their back.
- True or false label.Divide your group into two equal teams. After the split, the teams line up on either side of the center line of the playing area. The goal for each team is for as many players to remain untagged until the end of the game. If the coach or leader makes a true statement, such as B. "A cat meows," all the true players run toward their goal, pursued by the wrong team. Anyone on the true team who is tagged by a member of the wrong team is out. The team with the most members wins the game.Note to Leaders or Trainers: Be sure to mix up the correct and incorrect questions so that players cannot predict which one will be called next.
- gout dayStart this game by setting limits for the game. Select two players to start the blob. When players are tagged, they must hold hands with those in the blob. The last remaining players start with the next drop. If your group is very large, you can have two or more students start blobs.
- Tip and nose marking.Tag games are fun, but so is this one. Players avoid being labeled "It" by covering their nose with one hand and their toes with the other. Designate three or four players as your taggers. The game becomes exciting as players are only allowed to hold the toe to toe position for three seconds. Of course, they try to run away from the taggers. The ones that are tagged become "It" and start chasing the other players. The game ends when everyone is "it".
- freezing day.An old favorite game of tag in which two or three players labeled "It" chase the other players. When someone is tagged, the touched body part "freezes." For example, if a player is tagged in his left arm, that arm will freeze. Players are out when they have enough frozen body parts that they cannot move. Variation: If you want, you can allow other players to unfreeze your bodies if they have permission to do so.
- tail mark. The coach or leader should provide each player with flags or strips of cloth to use as tails. Players tuck the "tail" into a belt, pocket, or waistband. Players chase each other and try to collect as many tails as possible while protecting their own. The player(s) with the most tails collected in a given time wins this fun and frantic game.
games with balls
Each gym has a variety of balls available to play with. The following games use this equipment in new and fun ways. Discuss the rules and some safety guidelines before the game starts.
- Octopus-Kugel.A seated version of dodgeball, players start standing but sit when tagged with the ball and become part of the octopus. Seated players can tag any player who gets too close to them. Anyone who is touched must also sit down. The game ends when all players are seated.
- continuity ball. You need three beach balls for this fun fitness game. Have your players spread out and toss one of the balls into the air. The goal is to keep the ball in the air for as long as possible. However, the leader or coach adds two more balls to the game, one at a time. When all the balls fall to the ground, start the game again. Players must improve their ability to keep all the balls in the air with each game.
- Crabs-Kick-Ball.Pick two targets for the teams to hit: a chair, a trash can, etc. After dividing the players into two equal teams, place them on the floor at each end of the gym, facing each other. Place a goal for the opposing team at each end of the room. Put the ball (any type) in the middle of the room. The coach or leader gives a signal to start the game. All players approach the ball and kick it towards their team's goal. If a player fails to maintain their crab step position, the opposing team scores a point. Every time a goal is scored, the ball is snapped before play is restarted. The coach or leader sets the number of points needed to win the game.
gym games
Next we have a selection of games for those who practice gymnastics. Whether your group is warming up, in need of learning activities, or just wanting to have fun, we have the perfect gymnastics set for every group size and skill level.
adventure trail
Adventure Course, a warm-up exercise for gym students, trains different muscle groups and combines various exercise movements. Divide your group into teams of six to eight participants. Start by setting up stations in the gym for as many of the following exercises as you like:
- bridges
- Butterflies and Columns Stretch
- Forward drop onto a wedge mat
- Handstand on a mat against a wall
- toe touch
Number the stations and have the gymnasts complete the stations in order, with each team starting at a different station. Have the gymnasts spend a minute or two at each station, using a stopwatch and whistle to signal when to move on to the next station.
the coach says
A twist on the classic game Simon Says, Coach Says challenges participants to work on their gymnastic skills and follow directions. The gymnasts stand to one side of the room. The goal is to get to the other side of the room first. The trainer or leader says "The trainer says" followed by the name of an ability, such as:
- hunt four times
- connect two wagon wheels
- advance once
- jump forward four times
- jump forward once
- take a step back
If the coach calls out a skill without first saying "Coach says", and a contestant moves to perform the skill, they must return to the start line.
Note to the trainer:Say the names of the skills quickly to keep the game challenging.
talent routines
A gymnastics game intended to allow the demonstration of learned or known skills. Teams of three to five students take ten minutes to prepare a talent drill. The other teams serve as spectators at each performance. At the end, all the teams write down who they think did the best exercise, but they can't vote for themselves. The winner is the team with the most votes. Participants learn to work as a team and practice creativity.
pretend animals
In this animal imitation game, the coach calls out the names of the animals and the gymnasts imitate the movements of each animal. The mixture of movement and creativity offers learning and fun. Try the following animals:
- Crabs: crawl on hands and feet with their bellies up
- Kangaroo - with different jumps
- Tiger: A low, crouching creep.
- Rabbit - Leaping from crouching
- Duck: move forward in a squat with the hands on the sides of the waist.
Pretend Animals is a game that develops different muscle groups and increases the strength of the exercise in the core, arms and legs.
balance beam challenges
Concentration, which is necessary for any balance beam activity, requires practice. The following balance beam challenges provide gymnasts with practice and fun.
- beanbag toss
This game requires your gymnasts to shift their center of gravity while tossing a bean bag into a bucket or bowl. The contestants take turns standing on the center of the balance beam and earn points for each bag that lands in the bucket or bowl. If they go off the beam during a toss, they score no points, even if the bean bag is successfully tossed. The first player to reach ten points wins this gymnastics challenge.
- change
A balance beam challenge that's all about teamwork and creativity, Switch pits your party members against each other to see who gets the most points. Two participants start at opposite ends of the balance beam. If they meet in the middle, they have to change positions in any way they can, i.e. h bend, twist, twist or lie down etc. Gymnasts may not lower the beam or lift the other person. The contestant with the most successful attempts to cross the balance beam wins this challenge.
- how many little birds
A balance game for large groups, How Many Birdies challenges gymnasts to see how many they can fit on a slowly shortening balance beam. Participants climb onto the beam one by one. Once everyone is comfortably on the full length beam, shorten the beam by 15cm and start a new round. Every time the coach shortens the balance beam, it becomes more difficult to get everyone on the bar. The game ends when the beam becomes too short for everyone to fit on it, no matter what moves and positioning attempts the gymnasts attempt.
- Some simple balance beam exercises:
- Use pool noodles to fight on the balance beam.
- Have your gymnast throw sponges while balancing on the bar.
fitness training games
Gym workout games add a fun component to your efforts to gain strength and burn calories. Try to get others at the gym to join in on these games that will help you lose fat and tone your muscle groups.
Balance Fang
Play a game of tag with more or more fitness friends while standing on one leg. Start relatively close and move further away. By alternating feet, you work the muscles of both legs.
ropes and tires
Start by setting up two stations, one with hula hoops and the other with jump ropes. Depending on the number of jump ropes and hula hoops, you can have players compete individually or in teams. For each activity, set a two-minute timer for participants to hula hoop and jump rope. Each person gets one point for each jump and one point for each rotation of the hula hoop. The person or team with the most points wins this fitness game.
balance competition
A training game that strengthens core muscles and improves balance. Begin by standing up straight with your back straight and your hands on your hips. Place the bottom of your right foot on the side of your left knee and squeeze your abs. All participants do this at the same time and the person who can stand in this position the longest wins a round. In the next round, stand on your right foot and place your left foot next to your right knee. If you want, you can increase the difficulty of this fitness training game by stepping on the yoga balance capsules, if available.
pass and catch
You need ten or more participants standing in a large circle. Each participant extends their arms to the sides and touches the fingertips of the player on each side. Players pass a bouncing medicine ball (medium size) to the other players in the circle. The pitcher may go under, over, or on one or more rebounds. If a player catches the ball, he steps back. If a player misses a catch, he is out of the game. The winner is the last player standing.
challenging fitness games
Some fitness games are challenging due to the tasks involved, time limits, or the need to get the highest score. Your group will find the following games to add an extra thrill during your time at the gym.
pulling the body
You will need several old blankets or large heavy sheets (double or queen size). Divide your group into two or more teams of six to eight players. The objective is to pull the sheet or blanket with one or several bodies lying or sitting on it to the end of the gym.
Variations:
- One team member lies on the blanket.
- Slowly increase the number of team members on the mat for each consecutive race.
- Let the whole team roll off the roof and run to the finish line.
- Play as a relay race with pairs within teams. Each pair pulls their partner to the end and back and it is the turn of the next pair of partners.
This physical challenge game builds strength and encourages teamwork.
best hockey
A version of hockey with brooms, rubber ball and boxing goals or bucket for two or more players. This game is for two or more players in any size area. Place your targets at opposite ends of the playing area. Create your teams and have your players start in the middle of the room. Opposing teams try to get the ball into the opponent's goal while the goalkeeper blocks shots whenever possible. Evaluate the penalties for delaying play, grabbing the puck with your feet or hands, and unnecessary rudeness. If one team takes a penalty, the other team gets a free kick. If your group is very large, limit the team size and switch players when one team scores.
crazy catch
Another drill set that works with two or more people begins by designating one person to be the pitcher and everyone else to be the catcher. Give the pitcher several light, bouncy practice balls, one a different color than the others. The pitcher stands about ten feet from the catchers and throws the balls in rapid succession. The catchers try to catch the different colored ball, and if a player does, they get a point. The leader or coach sets the number of points for a win, and the player who reaches that points goal first is the winner.
Four corners blindfolded
Blindfolded Four Corners is a fast-paced, challenging fitness game that requires players to remain calm and is suitable for a medium to large player group. Blindfold one player and have them stand in the middle of the room. The other players now take their places silently in the four corners of the room, without speaking! – while the coach or leader counts to ten. If a player is not in a corner when the count is complete, they are out of the game. The blindfolded player points to one of the four corners and all players in that corner are out of the game. However, if no one is standing at the designated corner, players have five seconds to move to another corner before the blindfolded player points to a new corner. The last person left in the game becomes the next blindfolded person.
team fitness games
Team Gym games take competition to a new level. The first game does not require an even number on each team. A game can be played without equipment or props. Also, you can vary the game time, which is always handy when you have different party sizes and abilities.
Bettlaken Ping Pong Launch
Divide your players into two teams and have them hold a sheet at opposite ends. Place a ping pong ball on the sheet. Teams move the blade up and down to try and drop the ping pong ball on the opposing team's side. The winner is the team that manages to do this first. If you want, you can play this game more than once and keep the points for a certain time to determine the winner.
spring bubbles
Buy cheap feathers at a craft or dollar store. Divide your group into teams and give each player a feather. Shout "Forward!" and have players blow the feathers to keep them in the air. The team with the most feathers in the air at the end of a given time wins this game.
run rabbit run
Name your two equal teams Foxes and Rabbits. The bunnies line up at one end of the playground (her house), but the foxes are spread out all over the gym. The rabbits go for a walk with their captain. The leader of the fox pack says: "Run, rabbit, run!" and all the rabbits run back to their house, trying not to be caught by the foxes. All marked rabbits become foxes. The game ends when all the rabbits have turned into foxes.
gym mania
A team gymnastics game for groups of all sizes. Teams compete in a variety of activities to develop flexibility, endurance, and muscular strength and body composition.
- Have your teams line up in single horizontal lines on opposite sides of the playing surface.
- The first person on each team runs to the center of the playing area and is given an activity to complete along with a standard game card.
- The trainer or leader can use activity cards or simply assign an activity.
- The game card tells the participant how many times the team must complete the task. For example, if a two rolls, the activity must be performed twice; if a queen comes out, the activity must be done twelve times; and if an ace comes up, the activity must be done fourteen times.
- Each activity is only executed once. So if players draw a card that has already been used, they must choose another card. The next person in each row comes next. The game continues until all the activity cards are used up or the trainer has used up all the activities.
- The team that finishes first wins this fun challenge.
Suggested activities:
- Jump on one leg - right and left
- jump rope without rope
- jump up and down
- jumping jacks
- Left and right side leg raises
- Lizards
- run on the spot
- jumping jack steps
- ABS
Our collection of fitness games is fun for school gym classes, gym classes and adult fitness participants. Regardless of the size or composition of your group, we have an exercise set for you. Have fun!
